Year after year, we have witnessed the same old pattern repeating again and again.

Apple has launched yet again a “new” device to the market that, without any surprise, is irrelevant to our lives. Yet this company that adds no value to our lives expects us to rush in to acquire it.

What value has Apple added to our lives?

As responsible consumers, we should ask the same questions that these companies ask us when we apply for a job. How does this company contribute to our society? What impacts does their product have on our planet? Asking the right questions lets us see how a trillion-dollar company has become obsolete.

Do we really need this “new” product?

We have to dismiss the products that deplete our natural resources to create invaluable items. Companies that fail to serve a meaningful purpose, lack innovation for societal progress, and solely chase after our capital resemble destructive viruses within our societal organism.

Isn’t purchasing a product from a company that adds no value equivalent to squandering our hard-earned money?

As free consumers, we should remember that every purchase beyond the basket of our basic needs is a political, societal and economic decision. Together, we hold the authority to determine which companies rise to the top and earn the status of a trillion-dollar corporation.

By choosing to spend our money on products and services from companies that prioritise sustainability, ethical practices, and environmental and social responsibility, we can create a ripple effect that will ultimately shape the world we live in.

With our limited financial resources, we can take action where our politicians are falling short. Every purchase is a step into the future we want to have for us and our loved ones.
